Hyatt Brand Site Achieves 33% Growth in Revenue Through Hotel Search Engine Optimization

Hyatt Westlake Plaza is located just outside the Southern California town of Thousand Oaks. The property is a unique combination of outstanding business facilities and a resort-like atmosphere, overall a Mediterranean luxurious hotel oasis in Westlake Village.  A goal of the hotel was to increase online promotion of this unique property to business and leisure travelers alike.  Due to ever changing search engine algorithms their site was in need of a refresh to meet the latest SEO guidelines in order to boost search performance.  This effort also called for enhancement of the site’s content and imagery for hotel search engine optimization purposes as well as to improve the guest experience.  Hyatt Westlake Plaza partnered with Milestone Internet Marketing in late 2013 to complete the optimization and enrichment of its website while also implementing an ongoing marketing strategy.  The property is enjoying fantastic results to date!


Milestone’s Strategy:

  • On page optimization – New or refreshed content for several landing pages was implemented based on extensive keyword research including dining, news & events, activities and hotel awards pages.  Also optimized maps & directions page to enhance local search engine optimization for hotels.  Added new feature panel promotion to the homepage to promote conversion.  Uploaded more images to the site to better showcase the property to potential guests.
  • Promotion – Several directory enrollments through Naptunetm including the most important channels, data aggregators, directories, and citation sites plus targeted niche directories such as weddings.
  • Social – Created Foursquare check in offer to encourage guest engagement and interaction with the hotel.  Also updated images on Foursquare.  Enhanced Google+ listing with updated photos and as well as regular postings to improve social signals in Google search.
  • Off page optimization – Updated Yelp listing with additional categories and completed the business information section for a more robust profile.  Descriptions and amenities in Google Hotel Finder were audited and updated as well.

Excellent Results

Milestone completed initial search engine optimization of the hotel’s website in November 2013. YOY results for Jan – May 2013 vs 2014 are:

  • Online Revenue is up 33%
  • Traffic is up 13%
  • Online bookings up 13%
