Can A Good Product Video Really Lead To More Sales?

Video marketing has rapidly become one of the newest and yet most successful ways of advertising how good your product is. Most leading firms now offer videos relating to the promotion of their videos, with the old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words even more believable when it comes to a video.

Since the emergence of YouTube only a few years ago, especially now the giant of Google owns the service, you can find videos of absolutely anything you desire, from funny clips about animals all the way through to serious issues, questions and answers. YouTube is now considered the second biggest search engine on the Internet, with videos also now forming a part of organic search results on Google and Bing.

The reason that the big search engines now include videos as part of their search results is because people want to see videos as part of the results, with time and ease of access a massive reason why videos are now so popular for Internet users.

Instead of having to spend 5 minutes reading loads of text and pages of documents, you can now hit the play button and learn everything you need to, with the ability to pause and restart at anytime making life so simple for users. Instead of having to read a lengthy document about how to change your vacuum cleaner bag, you can now have your laptop sat on your table and follow the directions whilst actually changing the bag, meaning you can things done so much quickly.

If you make products, from a cleaning machine all the way through to an expensive mobile phone, an online video can help to advertise how good this product is, without the need for lengthy text and many words. Within a video you can really shout about how good the product is because people can see how it works, what it looks like and its capabilities and you can of course make it look really sleek and lush with a few effects and additions.

To explain how good a video is at advertising, just take an advert for the latest sports car that everyone wants to get their hands on. You have your paper advert that might look glossy but is essentially just a couple of high quality pictures and a load of text and key features. You then have your video, one and half minutes of the car driving through a Switzerland mountain range just before sunset, with the car glistening and gliding around, with some stunning background music and all the movie effects you could want.

Which sells the car better?

A video can really help to sell a product, especially one which moves or can be shown being used, because essentially you are showing what the product can do without the potential customer having to visit your store or shop for an online demo.

To make a product video work it HAS to be good.

If you knock something up that looks cheap and people know was thrown together quickly then it will reflect on you and your product and end up doing more harm than good. It is essential that if you are going to make a video, then you need to plan it, spend some time making it and then use quality graphics or effects if this is the road you plan to go down. A cheap video will only be detrimental, where as a well made but concise video can really advertise your product in the best possible light and therefore essential increase exposure and hopefully sales.
